At Concord Environmental Technologies, we take immense pride in growing talent from within — and there’s no better example of this than Matt Chapman, who has recently been promoted to Head of Core Projects.

Matt’s journey with the Concord organisation began 18 years ago, when he joined the business as a 16-year-old apprentice. Becoming one of the first employees in the new structure under Concord Controls — and now, nearly two decades later, he’s an integral part of our senior management team.

Starting out as one of the first candidates on the 5-year Trend Attitude Apprenticeship Scheme, Matt proved himself early on. Due to his age, he was initially unable to go out on site, but quickly found his place supporting the Help Desk, reviewing reports, and assisting with small works while being trained in the engineering side of the business.

By 2008, Matt had progressed to become a site-based Engineer, where his passion and aptitude for Trend BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) earned him industry recognition as a Trend Expert.

He continued to expand his skills, developing his knowledge in software engineering and graphics programming, becoming instrumental in writing and implementing system programmes — a vital step in his evolving career. Before taking an integral engineering role under the restructured Concord Environmental Technologies. 

What truly sets Matt apart is his adaptability and immersing himself in every aspect of Concord’s operations. His roles have included:

• Apprentice

• Design Engineer
• Office-based Contracts Engineer

• Commissioning & Small Works Engineer

• Project Management & Estimating

• And now: Head of Core Projects


Matt’s dedication, work ethic, and depth of knowledge make him a valued leader and a mentor to the next generation of engineers coming through the business.

His journey is a testament to the opportunities that come from long-term commitment, continuous learning, and a company that believes in promoting from within.
