Meet the team

Pete has been a pivotal and leading member of the Concord management team since founding the company in 2013 and has a wealth of knowledge in running a successful BEMS business. As a Qualified Accountant, he has a strong financial background, experienced in mergers and acquisitions, and with over 20 years’ management experience at director level, is able to provide the management team with strategic support and assist in making commercial decisions.

Seeing the company grow from zero to its present size is a source of immense pride, as is enabling staff members to progress their careers, the majority of whom have chosen to remain with Concord. Providing a happy working environment has always been a key objective, as well as providing a platform for growth, maintaining core values, and mentoring employees, with the hope that some will become future leaders in the business. Married with two daughters, both currently concentrating on their studies, Peter lives in South Birmingham and when not working enjoys golf, socialising and watching Aston Villa as a season ticket holder. Time permitting, he would like to learn a language.

As a founder of Concord Environmental Technologies Ltd, Richard has been a senior member of the Concord management team since 2005 and associated with the Concord brand since 1989. A background in BEMS spanning 40 years, including engineering and management roles, has given him a wealth of knowledge and a sound understanding of the BEMS industry at its various levels. Having worked with many of Concord’s staff for a number of years, Richard particularly enjoys the teamwork that is integral to the company’s ethos, and describes his approach as disciplined, focused and fair. Married, with three daughters, Richard is a keen sports supporter, watching Warwickshire County Cricket Club and following Aston Villa, and also enjoys travel and playing the guitar badly, something he is working on!

Richard Ford Founding Director

Matt assumed the role of Managing Director at the beginning of January 2025, bringing with him a wealth of strategic financial experience and a proven track record. As MD and an ACCA qualified accountant with nearly 20 years’ experience, Matt plays a critical role in steering the organisation forward, formulating and implementing long term strategies aligned with new market opportunities, and ensuring financial and operational efficiency.

Before coming to Concord, Matt had crossed into operations and was MD of a software provider. He says he is excited to be working in the BEMS industry, particularly with Concord’s talented group of individuals, who offer a real ‘hands on’ approach, and is keen to foster an ‘open dialogue’ approach and high performance, inclusive team culture. He takes great pride in helping clients to improve buildings performance while reducing energy consumption, believing that ‘detail is everything’, as befitting an accountant! Married with two rugby-mad, teenage boys, Matt enjoys spending time at the local rugby club, and at the golf club, improving his game, and walking the dog.

Matthew Whiles Managing Director

Nick manages Concord’s key accounts and high-profile clients in London, and has done so since 2019, heading up a team of managers and engineers delivering BEMS service, maintenance, projects & energy initiatives across the capital. With over 30 years’ engineering experience in the BEMS industry in nearly every role, from installation and design through to management, Nick’s breadth of knowledge has been essential in managing Concord’s blue-chip clients and ensuring the division functions successfully.

Nick Barron Head of London Key Accounts

Andy heads up the BEMS service, maintenance and projects teams operating from Concord’s Northwest regional office. Since he joined the company in 2022, his experience with smart controls and in developing and leading engineering businesses in the sector has been fundamental in establishing and growing the Northwest Division, which in addition to serving the North, also services national key accounts.

Andy’s job involves the day-to-day running and management of the Northwest and MEP divisions, a role that he approaches with enthusiasm, drive and empathy. He is particularly keen that every member of his team employs the same hard working ethos, and that the business is a friendly and professional place in which to work. Married with a young son, Andy enjoys family time at his home in the Northwest and can regularly be found exercising in the gym and following team sports. He’s interested in learning to speak Italian and walk on his hands, although not at the same time!

Andy Boothroyd Head of Northwest

As Head of Service & Maintenance, operating from Concord’s head office in Stourbridge, Rob’s overall role is to deliver service and maintenance contracts across the UK. This involves meeting and working with end clients, maintaining and managing their BEMS installations to ensure reliability and functionality.

Rob joined Concord in 2017, but prior to that, having gained a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, initially worked on electrical propulsions systems on Royal Fleet Auxiliary Naval tankers, before heading up engineering help desks and working on turnkey projects for some 18 years, giving him a wealth of knowledge. When not working, Rob likes to spend time with his wife and children, exploring the local area and taking mini breaks, he also enjoys open top motoring in his Brabus roadster. A keen motorsport fan, Rob regularly attends events across the UK.

Having had a continuous presence in the Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) industry for more than 35-years, the Concord name has always been associated with the provision of high-quality services and working closely with our clients to ensure their satisfaction. Through mergers and acquisitions, the company has undergone many changes throughout this period, but has always maintained its integrity and remained customer focused.

Concord Environmental Technologies Ltd was established in early 2013, specialising in the design, installation and maintenance of Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS).

Concord expanded its portfolio by securing prestigious BEMS maintenance contracts, including the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London’s Docklands and various national contracts, fuelling ongoing new build installations and refurbishment projects.

Whilst our head office has historically been based in the West Midlands, Concord expanded nationally, serving buildings across sectors including commercial, financial, education, healthcare, hospitality, leisure, retail, and data centres.

In 2018, Concord marked a significant milestone with the opening of its London regional office. That year, the company secured major BEMS maintenance contracts, notably at Nomura Bank’s London HQ and The Shard, showcasing its sustained growth and industry leadership.

In 2020, the London Key Accounts division sustained its strong growth by securing several prestigious BEMS maintenance contracts, upgrades, and project installations for blue-chip clients. This momentum drove further team expansion, significantly strengthening the Concord workforce.

In July 2022, Concord expanded its footprint by opening a new division in the Northwest, with its office located in the heart of Manchester. Since its inception, the division has experienced significant growth, now featuring a dedicated team that includes a divisional manager, an administration team, project/contract managers, site-based engineers, and apprentices.

In 2023, Concord established its Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Heating (MEPH) division. Designed to support our BEMS operations, the MEPH division expands our service portfolio by offering comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation services to facilities management and end-users across the UK. This strategic expansion underscores our commitment to delivering integrated solutions and reinforces Concord’s position as a leader in the industry.

In 2024, Concord strengthened its commitment to developing future talent by partnering with a national training provider. This collaboration introduced formal, online tutor-led training for our apprentices, complementing the hands-on experience gained under the guidance of our expert engineers. As a result, our apprentices now earn a recognised BEMS qualification, further solidifying Concord’s dedication to excellence in training and industry expertise.
