After a busy and successful first half of the year, the Midlands team at Concord Environmental Technologies were more than ready for a well-earned night of relaxation and fun. On 27th July, a team of eight from the Midlands office headed into Birmingham for an evening of food, drinks, and friendly competition at Boom Battle Bar – featuring axe throwing, darts, and plenty of laughs along the way.

While the mix of axe throwing and alcohol might raise a few eyebrows, the venue ensured a safe and secure experience. Thankfully, no limbs were lost, and the only casualties were a few bruised egos!

One unexpected highlight of the night was Stefan, whose axe throwing skills suggested a secret life as a lumberjack. He made light work of the competition, demonstrating an impressive technique and earning unofficial bragging rights as the group’s axe-wielding champion. On the other end of the scoreboard was Nicola, whose determination couldn’t quite match her aim – but she more than made up for it by organising the entire evening. Huge thanks go to Nicola for putting together such a brilliant night out.

The darts tournament was a tense, close-fought affair, with players channelling their inner Luke Littler. The competition was split across two boards, with combined scores used to determine the podium positions over three games. In the end, it was Cal who emerged victorious, taking the title of Concord Champion Darter with a consistent bronze, silver, and gold performance. Rob followed closely in second place, and Matt rounded out the podium in third.

The night was a fantastic opportunity for team bonding outside of office hours, filled with great food, fierce competition, and plenty of laughs. It was a well-deserved break for a team that has worked hard and achieved a lot over the past six months.
